Hello all, Burton upon Trent here.
Over the years I have shot 22RF and Full Bore Target Rifle though I prefer sporting rifle at the moment. (Calibers from 22RF to 404 Jeffrey and many in between)
I have been a member of the NRA for 30 years and presently shoot mainly with the ERA at the BOG where we shoot large caliber rifles, of the type used in Africa to hunt the Big 5, all of which are of various vintages. I also have a nice Mk3 SMLE and a Lee Speed that I really enjoy plinking with.
I was a member of Midland Counties Rifle Club for many years and shot competitively at Kingsbury, Bisley, Tyddesley Wood, Altcar and Pilning. However in a moment of stupidity I sold my trusty old Mk 2 BSA International, Mk 4 Swing and 7.62mm No 4 Lee Enfield conversion.
My overriding fear for shooting is the pure cost of the sport-I think this will sound its death knell just as efficiently as the increase in legislation and the anti gun lobby. I can see many profiteers out there making a very good living and charging fees that are getting harder for the average shooter to justify.
Well I just fell off my soap box but hey I have shot for well over 40 years and can remember the halcyon days where the nut behind the gun butt got the bulls-eye, not the fellow with the largest bank balance and a tub of Reloader 19 cost less than £15.
I also undertake some deer culling within the National Forrest to help protect the newly planted trees from deer damage and also the try and control the growing number of deer.
Good Shooting everyone and keep your powder dry!
