Well ive today i fixed a rifle safe to my wall or should i say tried sign01

Marked out the holes drilled the holes and they dont line up :cool2:

My question is if the fixings went into the wall do they come back out, to get the safe back off the wall.. you know that feeling doing the job then messing it up ....probably should not of attempted it coming off 5 nite shifts

Depends on what fixings you used, very few concrete fixings come out easily and allow re-use.

Depends on what fixings you used, very few concrete fixings come out easily and allow re-use.

few concrete fixings come out easily and allow re-use....... This then makes me wonder if and when its actually installed, and the officer say move the safe..nothings straight forward :roll:

Depending on how far the holes are out can you enlarge the holes in the cabinet a little to line up then use large washers on the bolts inside of the cabinet . Or reposition the cabinet sideways and start again , or drill new holes in the caninet and start by drilling one hole in the wall fix the cabinet with the one bolt then drill the wall from the inside of the cabinet making sure nothing moves off centre .

Hi dave well it looks like a case of repositioning the safe, ill just have to move another section of the skirting board out, and just refill the holes that i messed up :roll:

All done, actually bought a £3.99 round file and made the holes slightly larger on the safe, as suggested above and its now fitted, and have also done the holes for the ammo safe and they are correct, now ill sleep better to nite tongueout

We had to fit two additional safes recently, it was not until I had muscled them into position that I realised the wall was leaning out by over an inch top to bottom.

Wot you don't just epoxy heads of M10 bolts over the holes & stand it in the corner under the stairs?

My house has walls made out of rubble and plaster (with a bit of horse hair for luck). Best method I found was to set the safe on the wall and mark the holes.

Then drill holes as big as you like and don't worry if you can get your fist in them. Fill the holes with mortar or slow set chemical padding (?).

Then cut some six inch sections of 8 mm threaded rod and mask half an inch at the end. Remount the safe and press the rods through the holes and into the mortar. Make sure that only half an inch protrudes or you'll struggle to ever move the safe.

Leave to dry, remove the safe and tidy, refit the safe, affix nuts and washers to the rod ends and jobs a good un.

Well there both on now, safe and ammo box, but will say 1 bolt on ammo box wont do up tight, looks ok and you would only know if you used a spanner on it..

But tomorrow i will be buying 2 angled brackets to fit on the ammo safe and wall for added measure, then thats it, no more :roll:
