It is borderline shameless for me to post this as I somewhat know the maker, but this is a beautiful trailer/film about skiing after winter capercaille.

Film: WInter capercaille

It took us a few minutes to decide on what the shooters were saying, it certainly is not an Oslo dialect! (Somewhere North West maybe?) It is unfortunate for the Capercaillie that they choose to roost in the very top of trees, a nice big black blob against a white sky. My initial reaction was where does the round go if they miss however there is probably not a single person around for 25kms so a reasonable back drop.

Anyone know what happened regarding the reintroduction of the Capercaillie here in the UK, did it take place?

Looks like they are only in Scotland?

I think they tried introducing capercaille and "orrfugl" but as male birds fly away in mating season it pretty much failed as a "lek" by default fails when there are no females where they land?
They had such a project where I hunt in Borders, but they gave up after x years.

No worries about the bullets, this is northern Sweden and it is plain empty. Occasionally people get shot during moose/ deer hunting but I don't think an caparcaille accident has happened yet.

Went on a similar hunt about 30 years back ... Feb '82 somewhere North West of Trondheim. When we got back it was the birds from two weeks previous that my friend's wife had prepared.
