Hello every one from Nottingham... There I went sticking my foot right in it when I innocently advised that Larsen traps are rightly used for conservation when they are used humanely and correctly when they are used for the conservation of the small bird population in certain areas. It became clear immediately that as far as the majority were concerned on the wildaboutbritain -forum, Larsen traps are bad news -full stop. In fact one person advised that those who use Larsen traps are nothing but 'low lives' to which I took offense. It must be said that a small number of posters and I repeat- small, view the Larsen trap as correct where necessary. The posts about this subject should be read so that the readers are fully aware what these 'bunny huggers' think of the shooting folks. There is one thread that is too brief but the correct one which is well worth reading includes references by 'Rossy' and 'Matt' etc.... Wildaboutbritain Forum -Larsen traps......
Because there is incorrect information bandied about on the internet about Larsen traps I took the trouble to
contact the Danish Shooting Association. I did this because the 'doogooders' are saying to reinforce their hate of this trap that it is banned in Denmark (the country of its design) (because it is cruel). This information was correct in that it was indeed banned as were all bird traps in Denmark but it is not banned now. I had an informative email from a very senior official who endorsed the fact that they do now use this trap to catch all the Corvid species under a general licence as we do here in the UK.

I hope I've not broken any ruling re this subject but thought it necessary to warn our shooting associates about the fact that it might well be best to keep our 'cards close to our chests' and realize that this is the best policy when it is futile to discuss such things with those who will not tolerate anything being killed even if this is necessary for the benefit of the lesser species. :55:

I would very much like to think that on this forum we are all proud of our sport and none of us feel it necessary to keep what we do from non shooters.

Regarding the Larsen Trap, it is as with dogs, without the proper treatment things can go wrong.

Christel Thanks for the reply. An old Welsh pal of mine was right when he said to me you can be too open and too truthful. He told me when he was young he used to reply yes we've had a couple of Salmon when they asked -done any good... then came the letter from the committee - don't hog the water in future... After numerous problems he always said it's better to reply you've caught nowt.
Similar with the ducks, someone heard from over the water we used to do quite well on a certain estuary then the Club the other side bought the rights for £5 !!!! No English could join -- Welsh only....... dear dear dear..
