I'm in the Market for a good quality mid priced scope, i need at least 32 power mag, target type turrets, I'm not looking to spend a grand, the 2 I was looking at were the nikon and the Burris, it turns out the Burris seems to be m.I.a, the nikon only has 30mins of elevation so is no good. There now seems to be a massive void between the chi com stuff and the top end equipment. Any ideas?

I like the Sightron and only opted against one for my latest project as I really could not bring myself to spray a brand new Sightron!

Sightron is a very good midway house.

Some people can not get on with the Sightron's reticle. I am fairly certain they have them pictured on their website.

IOR...if you can get one.

We were looking at scopes at last year's Shooting Show, just across from the March scope stand. I think they were called Viper or maybe Victory or something. They were not bad.

I just bought a low end Nikon and for the money it's got pretty good optics.

Unfortunately, decent magnification, target turrets and relatively good glass isn't a cheap combination!

Don't be afraid to look at second hand optics. Last week I picked up a 1 month old Sightron 8-32x56 for £600. You'll struggle to get much better value than that, unless you were looking to keep costs lower than this of course. Nightforce are bringing/have brought out a few new lines of scopes so there may be a wash of second hand NXS and Bench Rest models come on the market as people upgrade to the latest model.

The scope I bought new at less than £900 3 years ago is now £1500

I hate to resurrect an older post, but this seemed to fit a question that I had intended to ask...

I too am in the market for a decent, mid-range rifle scope and was wondering which of the mid-range brands would be suitable for shooting up to 1000m (usually 300-600m though) with a .308. Would MTC hold up? Nikko Stirling?

I know I should really be looking at something German, but my budget just does not stretch that far right now, so something decent in the £200-300 range is all I can go to.

We've been through this mid-price scope thing many times before. Unfortunately you need to spend at least £500 to get out of the Chinese market. And, if you are content with a Chinese - they don't come much better than Fox Firearms version for £110. I've seen identical scopes priced at £295!

If you can afford a Japanese scope and need to buy 'new', Sightron seem to offer best value/price.

Which Fox scope?, I've seen reference to the 8-32 but there's not one listed. There's a 10-40X50 or a 8-34X56 Hakko but of course no prices listed for anything on the site (major annoyance!!!) :)

I have a relatively lower end Simmons 6.5-20x44 that has very nice glass, certainly clearer at high magnification than the MTC Viper 8-32x60 I have on my sons Howa at the moment

If you know anyone going to the US the Sightron SIII 8-32x56 are still around the £500-£575 range new.
