O/U shotgun hard to break/reset

Hi Folks,

I've recently inherited a Fabarm O/U shotgun which has been stored for 15-20 years. I've cleaned up the barrels and re-blued them and I'm going to tidy up the woodwork and oil it.

The only problem I'm having, is with the action, it's quite stiff to cock, needing to be forced rather than falling open. Once cocked, the barrel will move freely.

I've taken the stock off, cleaned and greased everything in the action but it's still stiff to set the hammers. The internals look as though they've hardly seen any use. Anyone have any tips for freeing it up?

OR

Buy the cheapest 500 cartridges you can find & have a blast

As you said - it looks like it has not had much use - so give it some...quite a few guns take a little breaking in from new

Thanks, I was hoping that it just needs to be `worn in`. A buddy and I are off our local clay ground this Sunday, so I will see how it feels after a couple hundred cartridges :)
