The bearer party and particularly the OC looked as if they did not know what was about to happen!

It is the funeral of three members of the RNZI Regt (2nd/1st Battalion ?), Corporal Luke Tamatea, Lance Corporal Jacinda Baker and Private Richard Harris who were killed by a IED in Afghanistan in August of last year.

Thank you. I knew New Zealand had lost people in Afghanistan and guessed that this was to do with them. Respect to their memory.

My Kiwi cousin joined the army, I understand there was a waiting list at one time. He wasn't in for long but boy could he do the Haka.

We had a military funeral in the village last Friday A sad but very dignified occasion. The deceased was a young Royal Engineer. He had served two tours in Afghanistan and was due to return for a third when he was diagnosed with advanced cancer,
he died six weeks after diagnosis, aged thirty one. I know his wife's family, but not well enough to attend the funeral. I took some photos from an upper window of my house. I hope they go some way convey the dignity of the occasion. Sadly the best the best photo's the Family are recognisable . so I didn't think it appropriate to post them. The pall bearers, Firing Party, and the Bugler were immaculately turned out and their drill was impeccable . The British Army were at their very best.

They said on the radio today that a couple of hundred people came to pay their last respects. Good to hear.
