It is the funeral of three members of the RNZI Regt (2nd/1st Battalion ?), Corporal Luke Tamatea, Lance Corporal Jacinda Baker and Private Richard Harris who were killed by a IED in Afghanistan in August of last year.

Thank you. I knew New Zealand had lost people in Afghanistan and guessed that this was to do with them. My Kiwi cousin joined the army, I understand there was a waiting list at one time. He wasn't in for long but boy could he do the Haka.

We had a military funeral in the village last Friday A sad but very dignified occasion. The deceased was a young Royal Engineer. He had served two tours in Afghanistan and was due to return for a third when he was diagnosed with advanced cancer,
he died six weeks after diagnosis, aged thirty one. I know his wife's family, but not well enough to attend the funeral. I took some photos from an upper window of my house. I hope they go some way convey the dignity of the occasion. Sadly the best the best photo's the Family are recognisable . so I didn't think it appropriate to post them. The pall bearers, Firing Party, and the Bugler were immaculately turned out and their drill was impeccable . The British Army were at their very best.

They said on the radio today that a couple of hundred people came to pay their last respects. Good to hear.
