I ordered some bits from Stevesgunz for my Rossi 92, and included in the order was a firing pin. Seems that HM Customs have got my order, and I wondered if importing a firing pin is not permitted. Anyone know the law about this?

Customs have it because they are calculating the charges to be applied. Then, they'll pass it to the Royal Mail who'll also charge you an additional eight quid to collect these charges on behalf of HM customs....!!!

I knew that before I ordered it, you just can't get them in the UK, so no choice.

If it has been 'Awaiting Customs Clearance' for more than a few days the UKBA have probably temporarily impounded it while they wait to inspect the contents, they may also be checking with your Licensing Authority that you have good reason to be ordering that particular firearms part even though its not considered a controlled part. If you send them a fax explaining what it is it might get it released a little earlier. They don't have an email address and they don't have a telephone contact either but there is an 0845 number for HMR&C where they can confirm if it's awaiting inspection, the Fax Number is 02476212812.

NB: Not OK in Northern Ireland.

Thanks for that information. I don't have a tracking number, at least not as yet, so I don't know where it is. Would they be able to identify it with my address and that of the sender?

Worth a try though, so I'll send them a fax and see what transpires.

You should of asked the shooting shed to make you one a lot less hassle. :shakeshout:

I've had some Nordic Components parts and a CRums receiver stuck in customs for the last week. Been chasing Fedex but they just keep say customs are "inspecting". Doesn't take a week to "inspect". Either seize or release but get on with it.
