I am looking to apply for my SGC but just want some clarification on something.
With an FAC you need to be a member of a home office approved club, fullfill probationary period and become and full member prior to applying for the FAC or have appropriate permission of land to shoot.
I have read somewhere that you do not need to be a member of a club or have a permission to shoot to apply and want to own a shotgun as long as your reason is valid i.e. I will use it for clay pigeon shooting as and when I want.
Is this correct and if so is it just a case of filling in the forms and references, fitting an approved shotgun cabinet, having the inspection as bob's your uncle?
Any advice appreciated.

Correct... but your FEO will probably ask you about your experience with shotguns, and what you intend to use it for and a bit about safe handling of one. But that's about it.

dont don't even need a reason for a SGC, you can say i want a shotgun to look pretty in my safe or even just because i want one.
if you have a fac a sgc is almost a given grant
