What was it like to 'give up your guns'?
If firearm ownership was made illegal now I'd be pretty damn livid - 'supernova' wouldn't go anywhere near describing it - but losing semi-auto and handguns must have been horrendous enough.
Any anecdotes about how you felt at the time? How will you feel when it happens again and we lose everything?

I'd tell you but I'm fairly certain I'd break the sites swear filter
If I could have just one back it would have to be my S&W 29, shooting Police Pistol with reduced loads in a 44mag was really fun!.

Salut ,
What was it like to 'give up your guns'?
Dunno, but somehow I seem to always become a popular guy when I take people shooting in France or the Czech Rep, so I guess it must have been real tough...

Too young for the semi-auto rifle ban, and fortunately (?) i didn't own any of the pistols i was shooting at the time but i was not a happy bunny, but if you dared to be vocal about wanting to protect pistols you were looked at by the great unwashed as some kind of deviant pervert. :cool2:
The ban killed the guy whose guns i used to use

The Self-Loading Rifle ban (government theft) and the Pistol Ban (government theft) are far-away countries that I have no wish to re-visit or to contemplate.

I retain a sickening memory of a cell FULL of cardboard boxes in Camborne Police Station containing Cornwalls' handguns and accessories. I was able to leave my confiscation to the last week to enable a practical comp. The officer concerned was a shooter and was sympathetic but I was, and still am, very p***ed about the whole thing.
However, those who 'handed in' were the lucky ones. We were once pistol shooters in the UK. If we remember it, it will not be forgotten.

Re-
When shooting in France , once realises that not all the UK pistol shooters surrendered their toys...
Last year we had a parliamentary reform on gun-ownership in France. We were worried for Semi-Auto high cap so called "assault rifles". In the light of what happened in the UK, before they even started talking, I had my contigency plans ready for European legal migration
