Legal question about occupants of house.

Back when I first applied for my FAC and the FEO came over for the interview, he asked who else lives in the house.
I told him that I had a student lodger and he wanted his name & previous address.

Now he's moved out and I'm looking for a replacement. Do I have to contact the firearms department to tell them about the new person living in my house? If so will I have to tell the police each time a potential lodger contacts me prior to viewing the room in case they have a criminal record?

Thanks

Do the police have the legal power to go about background-checking people who just happen to live in the same building?

In some ways that could work in your advantage, if you have a dodgy lodger, plus you would think they'd go away and make sure there aren't any people there already who may be considered risky, it's a complication if it is the case but not as daft as the micro management of what firearms you can have and how much ammunition is.

Got a reply from my FEO.

"If circumstances like this come to our attention our concern would be the for the safety and security of any firearms in the house and the possibility that they would be accessed by such a person. We certainly wouldn’t expect you to conduct an investigation into a prospective purchaser in any way or seek our advice as to their suitability. You just need to be aware of the implications re security as I have outlined above"

A mate of a club member I know had his tickets revoked as this chaps daughter returned home to live with her father....she had a history of drug use, etc.
The FEO made it clear that if the daughter moved in his guns would be moving out
