Tried to order a CMMG

Oh dear. Heart said “We want a Raven!”, Head said, “Are you mad?! Have a CMMG”. As heart had had its own way for much of the time, after several days agonizing over the cost, I decided to go with the head for once.
I got up in the middle of the night and spent an hour or two making a list of all the mods I wanted, and eventually emailed Paul at Lantac, before going back to bed.
In the morning I received a reply telling me that they no longer do CMMGs! :cool2:
It also said in the email that they were releasing a new gun “very soon”. Well, not to bad I thought. Perhaps I’ll wait a bit and get the new “LANTAC LA-R22”. But then I remember that one thing I’ve learned regarding the gun trade is that “very soon” could mean “hopefully before the end of the century”. I called Lantac again and sure enough “very soon” meant, “hopefully sometime in the future”.
Is it the God of Guns way of telling me I should bite the bullet and order a Raven?

Thanks for the link. It's very tempting to save myself £2000, buy a basic CMMG and mod it in my own time....... With the money saved, I could fill yet another slot on my ticket as well as get that new barrel for my .308.

Yogi,
Sounds like you had the same conversation with Paul that I had this afternoon. I had also made a decision and had decided on going the CMMG route only to be shot down in flames by his decision. After a long discussion with Paul about the issues that Paul has had with CMMGs and the work that he was having to do to make sure that they worked reliably, I can see why he has gone the route he has.
John, I had found EMRR, but it sounds like Paul was doing quite a bit of fettling to get the CMMG to run close to his standards. So It is a case of waiting or looking elsewhere, possibly at a 15-22 as an interim option.
As for the new 22, Paul says that he has a bit of work to do on the design and prototyping and then wants to run 20,000 rounds through to ensure that it works right, and it will end up like a TCR in 22lr.

It would do all us lusters after black guns a kindness if he took the CMMG pages down!
I suppose, for me, the wisest, but perhaps most difficult solution, would be to stay with what I've got for now and wait till his new .22 TCR is ready.

Supply and demand could also be a reason, getting stuff out of the USA is still a struggle and CMMG may have been slow or unable to support the whole of the UK market as there were several vendors selling CMMGs.
