We had a fatality on our range this morning, and so we're wondering what the correct protocol is for removing the body from the butts in a dignified and seemly manner but without interfering with the shooting.

The fatality, who had been sitting on the mantlet, was a hit by an incoming round and thus thrown forward and spread all over the target. It was messy. We lowered the target - it seemed the right thing to do, and used the indicating sticks to scrape the worst of the mess off the target. As shooting was continuing, we put plenty of white patches on the target to tidy it up and then raised it again so the shooter could continue without further ado. Did we do right?

Will it count towards the cull tally?

A friend of ours once shot a butterfly on Short Siberia. It fluttered in front of his barrel just as he pulled the trigger.
The next time we saw him we presented him with a certificate and a little glittery stick on butterfly which he proudly mounted on his scope. :roll:

It's amazing how far a shot worm spreads: some oomans two targets away were picking bits out of their hair...

I reckon that worm was depressed and committed suicide because he always wanted to paint the town red and go out with a bang .
