Building a custom 10/22

#1 Post by CDM5 »

So I'm looking to build a custom 10/22 rifle since I have a variation to send in shortly. Was going to put down spare .22rf barrel, bolt and receiver.

I could start off with a basic model and add a match barrel and trigger. But what if I want, for instance a Kidd receiver and bolt?
I spoke to SYSS about their Rimfire Magic receiver and they don't sell it separately, even with the correct slot.

If I were able to build one from parts, how do I go about registering it as a rifle? Or would a RFD have to do it and then send it for for proofing?

Any advice on the subject?

Thanks

If you build it yourself it won't need proofing until you intend to pass it on to someone else.

If you have all the slots for the individual bits it doesn't matter that they are stuck together or separate in the cabinet (think rifle and sound moderator).

If you did have a spare rifle slot of the correct calibre then you could add it on yourself and remove the individual entries, you'll need to inform your licensing dept. of the fact. I'd tell them what you intend to do first as they may suggest an easier way.
Arming the Country, one gun at a time.

Good deals with Paul101, Charlotte the flyer, majordisorder, Charlie Muggins, among others. Thanks everybody.
