Eley cartridges

Recently bought a box of 250 12 guage, 28 gram, 7 shot eley's and they are rubbish. Some won't eject and about 20% won't even allow the bolt to close fully so cannot be used / fired at all. I have heard of some people having quality issues with the .22 ammo but wondered if this has happened with anyone else in regards to shotgun cartridges.

Which shotgun (assuming SXP by your sig)? Which Eley cartridges? Have you used same cartridges in the same gun before this batch?

Never had any issues with Eley and i use them 60-70% of the time. Bad batch/box? If they're bulged or misshapen and won't chamber properly i'd take them back to the shop for a refund/replacement

They would have to MASSIVELY the wrong length for that to be the issue surely? Like trying to put a 3.5" cartridge in a 2.5" chamber?

Used them lots of times before with no issues. Definately the right size as most work but about 20% won't allow the bolt to close. Can't remember the exact variety of Eley cartridges but if memory serves they're the bog standard ones. Just thought I'd check as never had an issue with eleys before so wondered if anyone had heard about a bad batch thats out there.

Quality control issues can affect all sorts of ammunition, including cartridges, but it would be unusual. AFAIK most if not all Eley 28g 7s are plastic wad and plastic case so expansion due to humidity is unlikely.
You could measure a couple of good ones against a couple of bad ones with a caliper and try and spot the difference, but maybe best to call the supplier and find out if they've had any other reports of problems.

Yep, they're plastic through and through; none of your better for the environment, biodegradable rubbish here thank you very much
Good idea with measuring, I'll see what size difference there is when I get home.
