Hi folks,
My FAC is due any day and then it's time to start shopping .. I'm looking for a bolt action .22 for my first rifle .. I will mostly be target shooting although hope to do some bunny bashing also
I'm considering a brno mod 2 or it's later cz equivalent (452 ?) because I'm impressed with the accuracy of the club model 2..
Are there any other bolt action rimmys I should consider at this price range ?
I should add that finances are a bit restricted at the moment ..
Thanks in advance

If memory serves, you're quite a big fella, yes? If so, look at something such as the Ruger 77/22. Firstly, they are rifles that have a "big gun feel", despite being rimfire. Secondly, they are one of the gun world's best kept secrets. Outstanding rifles but not popular because people really don't know, hence prices are very reasonable.

Salut,

If money is tight why dont you get a second hand one ? I only ever bought 2 guns from new in my life. My 1st in France and 1st in the UK. Well looked after, guns will have more life in them than we have...

My latest purchase was a beautifull 35 years old 22lr stutzen krico-Kriegeskorte 300. It came fitted with stecher trigger and a small 2.5 Bischoff Braunschweig scope on a suhl hook montage. It can cloverleafs at 50 meters even with crappy Blazer amo.
In 30 years time I am sure it will still work as the day it was made & my son will get his mitts on it . Pure 100% schönste Deutsch Qualität all the way ... :good:
It cost me less than £ 250 delivered to my door step. I doubt you could get the most basic & boring gun with a crappy chinese, so called, scope for that money ... ;)

You won't go far wrong with an old BSA, the Sportsman 5 is fine BA rifle that can be found at very reasonable prices. My current 5 sports an old WW2 ZF4 scope. I also have a soft spot for my Sportsman 15 which is lot of fun just with the open sights.

I have a cz 452 and the cz413 both are extremely accurate so many people have used my cz's at the gun club and then bought one when there licences come through.

For accuracy (especially as you like 10-bull targets) an older Anschutz or BSA target rifle for £200 - £300 would be hard to beat for the money...

Chap in the club has a dual role BSA Martini Int. that has been chopped and moded (sacrilege :o ), scope, sling and bipod fitted and it does both jobs just fine. He uses a 10 round pistol mag loaded up in his pocket or strapped to the fore-end so no loose ammo rolling around in his pocket.
