Interesting and illustrates why anyone carrying should do so with a round chambered (other forum).

Methinks we'll build this in to training courses from now on.

Just wondering why gun guy didn't make any attempt to move back in the earlier videos, rolling about may not be an option - then again, moving back may not be an option either at times.

Combat is dynamic, if your static your dead. :run:

Never ever stand still, never keep looking in one direction for too long. bangbang

The only time you should stay in one place, is after you've been killed, if your moving around after that, cool that'll really freak everyone out. zzzzom

But seriously, the videos are certainly food for thought.
I'd like to see how he'd do if he was constrained by, say a narrow ally way, or on a flight of stairs.

But sometimes having a gun can be detrimental to your survival, becoming over reliant on it for your defence can limit your ability to handle every situation likely to come along.

Unless of course you happen to be a Judan in Ninjutsu then you be able to blow a p**f of smoke and vanish into thin air.

Made me spill my tea that did.

Of course killing the other guy first is always a good tactic....Gun is last resort in civvie life - plenty other options available - like trying not to get into the situation in the first place. Definitely something to build in to a course I reckon.

BTW I watched some of his other stuff with the trick quick draw, Mozambique style drills and speed reholstering - he's a troutslapping poor shot at close range!

Not getting yourself into the situation in the first place, is always the best option.

The only time I can see speed reholstering necessary, is if the old bill turn up, and you need a quick "weren't me gov, just found him like it" :run:

You say he's a poor shot up close, I don't know about you, but to me thats the most important range with a pistol. bangbang

Having a firearm will only help you in some situations. If you are walking down the street for example someone could easily walk up behind you and stab you shoot you are hit you over the head with a baseball bat. The advantage a handgun gives you over a knife is you can shoot someone at a distance with a handgun with a knife you need to get close up.

Easy answer, don't land yourself in the situation in the first place, and just in case carry both.

All planning goes to sh1t if /when it happens because THEY set the scene, you can only ad lib it from then on in.

However AWARENESS is a BIG help! As agreed, best try and avoid.

Most pistol fights are close range up to 3 yards according to the FBI, I don't recall reading about ANY shoot outs at 25+ yards between citizen and villain with people "running for cover" etc etc - any???? any????
