.223 rifle

I have decided to fill the .223 slot as I haven't got one and that is as good a reason as any. I am open to types but there are a couple things I want on it.

1. Heavy barrel
2. Barrel and action need to be black (unless such a great price I have money left over to get it painted)
3. Non wood stock (see above)
4. Decent mod, over barrel if possible.
5. Scope and rings an advantage but not necessary
6. MUST be accurate, I want this to out shoot me. (If that makes any sense)

I have about £400 - £450 for everything, an open slot and will be at Bisley next Saturday meeting someone who is buying my black powder pistol. I know these sort of deals are about as I've missed at least two in the last couple of weeks on gun trader.

Thanks
Rob

Pity about the budget, been thinking of offloading my Armalon 700 Police

It'll outshoot Simon's new toy any day of the week

Would love to have two grand to spend but aint gonna ever happen, I know I can get a Remm 700 or Howa 1500 for this price as I've seen them for sale.

I'm also not in any rush so don't have to take anything I'm not 100% sure I want.

How about a Savage? I have had a Savage 110FP in .223 for about 20 years and it's always been accurate.

I collected my Howa 1500 stealth combo last week. I bedded the picatinny rail and lapped the scope rings. I fired 1, cleaned 1 for 20Rds and I am happy to report that she cloverleafs @ 100yds with Hornady 40g V max and even shoots 1/2 moa with PPU 55g SP. Excellent value for money and I have seen 2nd hand combo's that are just outside your budget.
