Cheers

Richard Underwood does the G98 pattern sling for £18.50, not sure if this is the correct pattern.

That is a British Pattern 14 sling.
A quick Google search shown a couple of sellers selling similar items as being the same or similar type, it's not in my area of intrest figure the OP would want to research it.

Looks like the Persian Mauser is similar to the G98, but has more standard fixed sling swivels.
The G98 swivels are a PITA as they're part of the sling. I've made a few G98 slings, but only using renovated metalwork.

While the sling linked above would work, it IS of British Pattern - the same basic design was used throughout the 19th Century and well into the 20th.
The difference is that the Brit. sling is riveted construction the fixed end fastens with a length of thong through two pairs of holes.

European pattern slings tend to adjust using a metal buckle and the fixed end is closed via a big brass "collar stud" type button though a couple of key slots.

For all things RIFLE SLINGS http://www.rollanet.org/~stacyw/index.html - a great site, but not presently being updated
To further confuse matters, the sling site does show a Brit. Pattern 14 sling as being correct. Not sure HOW/WHY this would happen...as HOW/WHY would Mauser supply German made rifles with British made slings?

...the plot thickens, innit

From the pics:

Metal slider buckle
Metal "button" on short fastening end (in the three above they also have the tab behind the button to stock damage to the stock)

So a European pattern - but more in keeping with French slings of the period than German
