Hello everyone, I am new here, but not to shooting. I have been involved in full bore competition ( NZRA & NZDA ) since the late 1960s as well as hunting. I am a certified Range Officer & instructor , life member of the Seabourne Rifle Club & a member of Motueka Pistol Club. I reload all of my ammunition ( including 12 & 20ga shotgun) & have done a lot of load development over the years.
My rifles have been reduced, in later years, to just those I use for hunting & simulated field competition & are as follows :
Sako 85 Hunter .223
Tikka T3 6.5x55SE
Zastiva m85 .222
Zastiva m85 .223
Savage 110 modified .243
No.4 mk1 .303
Also various rimfires & shoguns.
I look forard to meeting you & sharing experiences

Thank you dromia, I don't know how much is known about shooting in N.Z. , but I have several expat U.K. friends who love the Hunting up here , (no season for animals , no permit costs, no shortage of land to hunt on & seven species of deer + Himalayan thar , chamois , pigs, goats etc.
might have something to do with it ?) A small human population has it's advantages.
Cheers
Peter

Hi 6.5x55, (nice calibre). We in the UK think that we shoot a fair few deer. I am told that in New Zealand there are men who have shot upwards of twenty thousand reds over a career. That's a lot of shooting. Get out there and enjoy it.

Welcome Peter, the simulated field competition sounds interesting, do you have any links or information of the course of fire? Probably a good subject for a separate thread
