Small primer 308 Lee Loader?

I got a new Lee Loader today with my Xmas pennies and sat down to make a batch of bullets.
Much to my surprise I couldn't because the priming chamber on my new Lee Loader, although otherwise perfect, is made to take a small rifle primer.

It could maybe be used to load Lapua Palma 308 but I haven't got any..... Boo

That is very odd, I do not have a Lee Loader to check with however they have certainly worked for LR primers in the past.

Sounds like Lee's non existent quality control, I'd return it and get one with the correct parts.

I have an old target loader, an old standard loader, both in the cardboard boxes and a newer version in the plastic box in 308 and they all have the large primer parts.

I have a 223 and 303 Lee Loader. In both the priming chamber is the expected size. This one is definitely for small primer I measured the hole with my micrometer.

I've written to Lee Precision to ask for a replacement part. Maybe they'll let me keep the other one as a curio.

I don't suppose many people load Lapua Palma with a Lee Loader.

:goodjob: No quibble at all from Lee Precision, they're sending me a new priming chamber.
