I see them every day outside my office window...in the Summer its Spitfires, Hurricanes and a Lancaster. Just rubbing it in!!!

We used to get A10s doing attack runs on our office in the early 90's. You always heard fast jets around, Phantoms, Tornados, Jaguars etc. Very infrequent now but the odd Apache or Chinook still comes over every few weeks.

Where do you work then ?

I lived in North Hykeham for many years so Vulcans would fly over daily flight line for Waddington. Years later I got to guard them, then Coningsby looking after the Phantoms and BBMF.

When I worked at the Stewartby brickyard back in the 70's we would get pairs of A10's come in low, dip into the pit and then out the other side, from the angle we were at they looked like they were weaving through the chimneys. The most impressive thing was being in the lee of the pit you could not hear them until they were on top of you.

I spent a few years working at RAF Upper Heyford, the sound of F111's taking off certainly ended many a telephone conversation and the eerie sound of Luftwaffe Starfighters during visits (I have no idea why but you could always tell a Starfighter by the scream from its engine) we regularly had F4's overhead, along with F15's that always seemed to take off into a vertical climb with barrel roll and the occasional BUFF (B52) visit.
about once or twice a year we would be "bombed" by Harriers that came down the valley and then did an attack on the runway, often the alarm wouldn't sound for 4-5 minutes after the Harrier had cleared the area , and you never heard them coming!
there was one airshow while I was there , I must see if I can find the slides of it, lots of now extinct aircraft and a stunning display be an A10 where the plane never left the perimeter of the airfield and never went over a 1000ft whilst turning and jinking and making simulated attack runs clapclap
