Quickload Check Please

Could someone with Quickload run a quick check for me please?

My Tikka T3 (.223 with a 24" barrel) has never really shone with 69gn SMKs so I've been having a play with Quickload to come up with a theoretical starting point (please do not put this load through your rifle!)

I've selected 22.99gn of Viht N140 & a 75gn Amax, when I run Quicktarget it's showing an impact velocity of 1203 fps @ 1000 yards!

Now I've either done something wrong or I've always seriously underestimated the maximum range of a .223!

Could someone let me know which is the case please?

Thanks,

Mick.

I haven't got quick load but I'm running 69's with 24.3 grns of powder.
Amount of powder seems a little low. Send oven pea a message he should be able to help

My .223 75gr Amax load has 2735fps at the muzzle, Shooter shows it at 1043fps @ 1000yds, mine is only an 18" barrel though.
I worked my own load up carefully and settled on 25.1 N140 with no pressure signs at all with my components and c.o.a.l.
I've never tried it at 1000 though, might be a laugh!

Thanks all.

Has anyone actually tried a .223 @ 1000?

Would have to be a calm day I would imagine!

I have shot .223 at 1000 yards with a short barrel and it was challenging but good fun all the same. Laurie of this forum has done a lot of shooting of the .223@1000 in F/TR and has a very good understanding of how to get the best out of them
