What .22lr ammo? HV, standard and subs

Just reading some of the recommendations from the Eley thread and it got me wondering what everyone uses.
I understand every rifle prefers different brands what works for yours
So what do you recommend for target or plinking.
Please try to be specific.
Make and model
Sub, HV, standard.
Specs if you know them.
Use - target, plinking, varmints.
Cost
Dealer if possible.
Rifle(s) you use that likes them.

No bashing others' selections unless you have a verifiable fact relating to an issue, spec etc

Cheers
Dean

I use cci minimags or cci std ... (Cz452) I originally thought the minimags suited better but I'm kinda not sure now .. The minimags cost me £6.20/100 and the std cost me £5.60/100 (club prices) I will try different ammo when I get the chance
Minimags are Hv
And std are errr standard velocity by the way !!

RWS Semi-Auto (Not HV apparently but designed for S/A) , Centurion (HV - dirty though), CCI Minimag (HV) work well through an Stg-44 for 'practice' (plinking). Doesn't like standard ammo for some reason.

CCI Standard is good through my BSA Martini International for target, tried Eley match and didn't appear to be much better (probably the shooter though).

Haven't got a clue on costs, just hand the magic card over.

I have some 11 firearms chambered in .22lr, one S&W M&P, one Taurus LBR, one Volquartson 10/22 and 8 vintage/antique Marlins. I only buy two types of .22 ammo now and these are what I've found to give the best across the whole spectrum of what I own.

In the Marlins and Taurus I use Eley Sport (the green box). It's around 70 quid a thousand, lead round nose, standard velocity. They go through the lever guns lovely and shoot well and they really do perform in the Taurus. They are however, quite "slimey" with whatever Eley coat them in. In the VQ 10/22 which has an Adams & Bennet match barrel, rested, it will put 10 rounds of this ammo into one ragged hole at 50 yds. But, they are not semi reliable.

In the two semi's I'm using CCI AR Tactical. These were supposedly designed specifically for the S&W M&P 15-22. It's a copper washed solid HV at a published 1200fps. What can I say about this ammo? Well actually, I didn't want to say anything as it's outstanding and I don't want problems getting it because everyone else has started using it! It runs at around 70 quid a thousand as well, but it's difficult to price properly as it comes in boxes of 375. Yep, one bix square box that you rip the top off to find 375 shiny rounds of rimfire ammo loose! I love that bit!

In my guns I have found this to be the most accurate, reliable and clean HV ammo. Out of my Smith, it will punch the 10 ring out at 25 yds using a red dot and I last went almost 1000 rounds between cleaning. I've never had a failure to fire with it and stoppages are very, very rare. Out of my VQ at 25 yds you can cover a 10 round group with a 20mm patch. And it has been ultra reliable as in my Smith. The Taurus hates them.....

Mini-mag in my Ruger 10/22 - shoots and cycles very well - £8 per hundred.

RWS R50 in my Anschutz 54 - 1 almost perfect hole at 50m and very good up to 200m - expensive...like Charlotte said, just swipe the card...

I tried HV (RWS R100) for long range, but they go subsonic before 200m which can destabalise the bullet and open up the group.

I use Winchesters triple three's (333) in both my rifle and pistol. They're clean, accurate and cost $11 (£6.70) for 333 rounds.

Do they knock $10 off the price if you collect it from the shop instead of having it delivered?

Don't forget the recall notice on Winchester 22LR ammo. Safe shooting. David.
