Converting S2 Semi to S1

Hi All
I'm considering an S1 Semi ,Escort or similar, (I know it's not an M2, but my Hyundai's not a Ferrari for the same reason) in the near future.
There seems to be loads of S2 for sale, not too many S1. I've read it's just a case of knocking out a crimp in the magazine tube to increase the capacity again.
Is this, generally, an easy and reliable modification? I can't seem to find magazine tubes for sale, only extensions. I assumed just replacing the tube would be easy and relatively cheap but they don't seem very prolific.
Any help appreciated.

Cheers

The Hatsan is more of a Dacia than a Hyundai if that makes sense ?

I have had one. Not terrible but good value I suppose.

Not really... you can get the crimps out, but it probably won't be a very smooth tube which can cause all kinds of feeding issues. I'd suggest starting with a S1 to begin with..

I have a S2 Hatsan pump, and for the money I absolutely can't fault it and would have another in a heartbeat! The only negative things about them is the shell lifter is a bit aggressive for fast loading, and the magazine spring is kinda stiff. But for just over £300 new it's not bad!

The Nordic extensions for the Benelli supernova fit the hatsan escorts.. .at least the early ones anyway!

The cost of a new uncrimped mag tube is about £15 or so...plus about the same for an extension tube.

Forget knocking the crimp out

Hatsans are more Yugo than Hyundai anyday!!

So new mag tube sounds doable! If the hatsan is so cheap and naff, what's the alternative under 300 quid? We're not all made of money! :-)

I don't read my own signature!

My S1 Rem 870 is good for most tasks and cost £150 2nd-hand.

Quite a few S1 guns at that price or less if you look around.
Stick to the better makes...

Would you/can you actually purchase a new uncrimped mag tube for a sec2 or would an RFD have to do the work and register the gun as sec1?

I'd say they are more FSO than Yugo.

I'd say as Saddler did and look for a better make 2nd hand, Hatsans are a bit of a marmite gun, you love em or hate them.

Mag tubes are not a pressure bearing part...no licence needed to own one on its own afaik...fit it to a S2 gun is a no no unless you have a free slot for said S1 gun

Most RFDs will do the job of course, costs will vary accordingly.

The other problem with mag tubes is sourcing them in the UK if you are not an RFD.

Quite a lot of S1 shotguns out there looking for new homes...and with S1 shotguns not being flavour of the month they're cheap to pick up as not many folk want the extra hastle of an FAC for a few extra shots in the tube.

Hatsans are for real men! Functional, durable, reliable and affordable - kinda like how women should be. :run: :run: :run: :run: :run:

If you had posted this 10 days ago I could have brought one back with me.

Not as much white female slaves for sale, more an umpa-lumpa car boot sale with the amount of orange slap they wear
