Had a great day at Cawdor yesterday. Weather was lovely to to start with, albeit windy at times but the heavens opened up mid afternoon which put a stop to proceedings earlier than planned.

Had my 257 and my Steyr M95/30 with me, as usual the Steyr woke everyone up! At 200m I was comfortably hitting a fig 11 target - 300m was a different kettle of fish as it was really difficult to shoot with the iron sights at that distance. I'm starting think some of the club members like to live vicariously through me when I'm shooting the Steyr as it always draws comments - at 300m the RCO asked my spotter if they were getting burnt from the muzzle blast!

The Steyr at the 300m point as I started to pack it away.

I had a great old time with the 257. I was fireforming brass and testing new loads made with Ramshot Hunter powder. Really, really impressed with the powder and how the rifle was shooting - made my day! :shakeshout:

The 257 on the bench at 200m.

Finally, the view for 400m after the rain came!

All in all a great day out. :good: Even with the rain! ;)

I really must get my Cawdor membership application in - last shot there about 20 years ago. Certainly looks like you had fun.

No not Cawdor membership - Strathpeffer RPC membership. :good: Strath has it's fullbore shoots at Cawdor.

Why? What's the advantage - Strathpeffer itself is twice as far away?

Sandgroper, always nice to read about folks enjoying their shooting along with the photos. Have to agree with you on the Ramshot, I use it for my 25-06 and the rifle just loves it.

Have either of you tried Ramshot Magnum powder?

Badger, I tried it a while back but the rifle and bullets I was using didn't like it. I ended up going with Reloader19 which suited a lot better.

Strath still shoots at Cawdor, plus you don't to go to Strath's Millnain range to shoot if you don't want to but as a member you can use it whenever you want. I don't know what the cost of Cawdor membership is but I pay £45/year for a family membership with Strath. :shakeshout:
