Right hand cast

If a gun has had the stock cast for a right hander, is it possible to return the stock to a neutral or even left hand cast? And if possible, how much would a job like that cost?

Thanks in advance.

It very much depends on the stock, my old Shotgun chap could pull stocks over however he hated some as they would creep back.

Was the original stock made with a cast or was the cast put on afterwards? If it was carved with a cast then it will be more difficult as it need pulling to neutral and then across to the left. If the cast was added then it is easier.

It is often done by using Infra-Red lamps and rags soaked in linseed oil, the hot oil stops it drying and makes the wood flexible. I watched a demo once where the stock moved back to neutral all on its own once the oil and heat were added.

There is always a risk too, occasionally a stock will break during the process and it cannot easily be predicted.
