Anyone recognise the chap giving a very emotional speech about 22 seconds in?
My initial reaction was Hitler, not so sure now as Hitler did not wear glasses.

Certainly not Hitler. There is something very special about a Leica and they sit head and shoulders above all others.

Christel,
Granted Hitler was a bit of an Übermensch, but, of course & sadly, a combination of age, pressure of running Europe, the disappointmen of having to cancel his holydays in Blackpool and then the stress of dealing with the travel agent to go to Russia combined with the torid sexual demands of his young attractive wife meant the Führer had to take wearing glasses.
Initially reluctant , he got used to it especially as the shrinking size of the Reich was getting harder and harder to see on the map.
He did find some nice specs and always fashion conscientious & a bit of a trend setter, even adopted a different type of tash to go with the classy new bins.
But all of that was very late in his otherwise very successful career, just before finally Stalin sacked him on Churchill suggestions.
As explained, it was very late in the war, the weather was exceptionally poor in Berlin and the Führer tend to prefer the comfort of the Reich Chancellery bunker. Since he was rarelly going for a pint down his local boozer, very few people know about it which makes this exceptional document even more interesting ...
Incidentally this picture was taken with a Leica camera, which explains the exceptional quality of the photo.
Handsome fellow, no wonder that little saucy Bavarian minx of Eva Braun was going weak at the knees and had the hots for him ...

No one could take pictures because Trotsky never wanted to be photographed. There were photographers from all over the world with their big box cameras — none could get in. I had a little Leica in my pocket so no one thought I was even a photographer. When some workers came to carry long steel pipes into the chamber, I joined them — and my little Leica and I went to look for Trotsky.
Can't verify the above quote.
