The missus and me are planning taking her dad and his current wife to see his grandfathers grave situated in Albert.We took the kids to see the grave a few years ago on the way home from Disneyland Paris and to date the wife is the only member of the her family to visit.
Now the F-I-L's dad was evacuated from Dunkirk whilst part the 51st Highland division,so looking to maybe add a visit there to fill out the trip.Is there much of anything to visit or see relating to the evacuation at Dunkirk .

Sounds like a good plan.

I visited my great Uncle's grave in Northern France a couple of years ago, so fulfilling and worthwhile.

Only visited Dunkirk once we popped in coming home from a long weekend staying in Ypres it was Sunday and it was absolutely empty, hardly anything open. We did manage to find a hotel restaurant open so we had lunch it was right on the sea front. One or two nice buildings, have a look at the Art Nouveu style building on the extreme right hand edge of this picture.


The beach. So beautiful today, I find it almost impossible to imagine it as it was in May 1940

Will you be staying in Albert. If so and you haven't already booked somewhere. I would recommend you give consideration to the hotel Basilique. Right in the town center. It has an excellent restaurant.
