Bit of an eye opener that 1 incorrectly loaded round of ammunition can result in the whole club being banned from using MoD ranges for a year.
Certainly makes you think.

Yep, thanks John, but harping back to the "Mercer an NRA against reloading" thread, how were you made aware of this report mate?
As an RO its about time we, or better still ALL members were sent this report. :cool2:

Yes in light of recent discussions about the NRA and reloading, the report answers a lot of criticisms...while it appears that we will have to wait up to a year for the publication of incident reports, if all future incidents are investigated and reported in this way then I don't think we have anything to worry about...and it's good to see the MOD allowing the NRA and club involved to resolve the matter themselves.

I still feel it needs it own section (Safety bulletins). In fairness I probably need to pay more attention to the website John
One an even more positive note I see they are running a markers shoot on the 7th. Shame its on the date and time it is or I would have marked, but good to see anyway. It would be nice to meet some of the markers (and throttle a couple

A safety section is on list of desirables, there is a lot of thought going into the website at the moment, action will follow, not sure when.

From what I understood of proof charges, would a 25% overload cause that sort of catastrophic failure? I thought proof loads were way, way more than that? Although I suppose that would vary for each calibre? Do the proof house publish the specs of their proof loads anywhere?
Interesting point re mixed powder; perhaps unlikely in the middle of a batch (perhaps not so if it was the first round of slow after the equipment had been used for fast?) but a timely reminder to those of us that load both slow and fast powders (into different calibres) to make extra sure the kit is clean of one before starting the other.
