...I'd like to hear your opinion on the performance/reliability of these guns, particularly for Sporting Clays.

As they almost phrased it in Animal Farm: Old A5 good, new A5 bad

As he said ^^^^
I know 2 people at my club that had the new A5 and both have traded them in for the Beretta 1301, if ever a gun could be described as female then this is the one, talk about temperamental, 1 week they would work fine with a particular cartridge, the next it would not, one guy I shoot with on a Thursday tried virtually every type of cartridge they sold at the club and it just wouldn't cycle consistently, it messed up a couple of comps for him and since he got rid of it in April his 1301 hasn't missed a beat, he even took it to America for a comp.
The above 2 were sec1 versions for PSG so sec2 for doing clays may be more reliable but an expensive venture if not

Have you considered a Benelli Supersport? Had one loved it, sold it, regretted it ever since!

Not something I'd consider as I don't find it pleasing to look at. As you can probably tell from my choices I either like sleek, modern, clean lines or 'butt ugly' - and rarely anything in between. The Supersport (along with the majority of shotguns) are somewhere in the middle and just not for me.
I'm very into extreme aesthetics. Call me shallow but that's just how I roll...
Thanks for the suggestion though. smile2

Hi I have a Browning Maxus 12G chambered in 3 and a half inch. It is the plastic black model or the synthetic stock whichever you prefer.
It is a great gun very light at least compared to my over and under, Recoil is not a problem very little even with bigger cartridges, And the speed load is a nice touch where the cartridge loads/chambers when you load the gun from the bottom.
I had a few problems at the start with it being a new gun had to put a few cartridges through it before it ran nice and smooth with no jams or stoppages.
And also it cycles 24 Gram cartridges with very few problems the occasional stoppage but nothing to worry about once in a blue moon which is going to happen no matter what you use relay.
Anything else you’d like to know drop me a PM and ill happily tell you more.
Joe Pugh.
