Happy New Year everyone!

Visited the Endeavour at its temporary home at the California Science Center in Los Angeles the other day. Given the tight quarters it was difficult to get the entire spacecraft into the camera frame.

All of the shuttles were built about 30 miles from where I reside. When they would return from space and land at Edwards AFB they'd come right over my happy little town and rock us with a double sonic boom -BANG BANG- a wonderful sound to hear.

We lived in the US in 1977 and I remember the space shuttle's maiden test flight on top of the Boeing when it detached and glided back to Earth, a very cool childhood memory. Certainly it's the end of an era for NASA, but at least history has been preserved.
