The moderator is listed on the firearms licence, does
it have to treated like bullets in the respect of locking
up in a safe, whether separate or not to the rifle?

I keep mine locked in my ammo safe so it is not an issue
but is it a requirement?

Yup, assuming it is for a firearm it is a pressure bearing component so should be treated like a firearm even though it is not particularly 'dangerous' on its own. Well maybe unless you threw it at something/someone. ;)

Yes they have been known to fly off the end of barrels and I have also witnessed a Mossberg Selecta Choke fly off which was interesting as in theory it instantly turned the shotgun into a section 5 as it was a Pump Action as it reduced the barrel length to just under 24"
