Hello F-B

I'm a new member here and would like to get some advice on the purchase of my first rifle.

I've just received my Firearm Cert (ink still drying) and want a .22lr for target shooting at the club I joined 6 months ago with my son. I've tried to do a little research and asked a few of the members at the club but I thought it would be worth getting the opinion of some seasoned shooters on here.

Thanks,

Dave

Hi Dave welcome to the forum,

When you say a .22lr for target, do you mean a proper small-bore target rifle such as an Anschutz 1913-2013

or a smaller Light weight sporter like a CZ452 ??

Thanks Alan,

I'm going to show my ignorance here by saying I'm not sure which one is best to go for, I'd like to start entering the club and local competitions so I want a good rifle but wondered if a proper small-bore rifle such as an Anchutz 1913-2013 might be a bit ambitious, maybe I'd be better starting with a light weight sporter?

ok so are you shooting prone 25 yards/50mtrs using jacket and sling with diopter sights or standing and using tele-scopic sighted rifles??

It's a 25 yard range at the club, I shoot standing, I've tried various sights at the club, iron, red dot and telescopic. I understand that there are various disciplines at the club, I do enjoy shooting with open sights although most people at the club seem to use telescopic sights.
