We've just treated ourselves to a nice Blissett & Son 12 bore: side by side of course with stripey (Damascus) barrells. It's nitro proofed but we rather like the thought of using ye olde blacke powdah cartridges in it. Is it safe to do so ? If so, what would be a good cartridge, and where can we buy 'em ?

I handload my BP shotgun cartridges, if I can't get paper cases I use brass with the overwad sealed in with waterglass.

The only way to go if you truly care for old guns.

THIS

Reloading is the only way to get ANY non-std. clay/game cartridge.

Even basic handtools would get the job done, so not even a need to buy a press.
The brass hulls require even fewer tools than plastic ones....

We think the shotty, being rather old, deserves an easy life from now on, and we like the idea of being a black cloud maker...

I picked some up at the CLA game fair, try antique shotgun dealers. They'd where I got mine from.
