Was wondering if anyone knows why Mossberg 590s are seemingly unavailable in the UK at the moment. I tried to find one before Christmas and have had no joy locating a supplier, tried the importers and everything they cant even say when they'll see anymore.. aaarggh

Any ideas why??

Neither importers are especially bothered about Mossberg sales.

Tried to get either to bring in a barrel for a Remington 870...one said they didn't exist, the other quoted a price above what most Mossberg shotguns retail for & a six to twelve month lead time for delivery.

Working on getting some factory made 24" 590 barrels brought on from the USA via other means.

Has the Beretta 1301 not really "killed" the 590....?

Apples and oranges, pump Vs semi. Are you thinking of the Mossberg JMPro 930?

If the 1301 proves reliable i could see it overtaking the M2 on the PSG circuit

D'oh, my bad....

Which begs the question, why would anyone want a 590 whilst the 870 is still being made?

Price?

Plus the 590 has the nicest magazine follower/spring i've ever fingered, oo er!! ;)

The only advantage i've witnessed a 870 has over a 590 is it has a 'proper' cartridge lifter which permits the load 2/4 loading techinque which is currently regarded as the fastest. You can do it with a 590 but its no where near as smooth, but the skeleton/lack of lifter on the 590 does allow weak hand/caddy loading the fastest, so if thats your preferred technique it would be better than the 870.

Yes, I had heard the 870's are easier to trap your fingers in the loading gate and are therefore harder to load than the Mossberg. I had a Mossberg 500 2+1 previously and really liked it, wish I'd kept it now..:(
I just thought it would be easy to upgrade to the 590 plus I now have a S1 ticket so was going for the 8+1 option. I know the tang safety on the Mossy is a much better option than anything else and extractors can be changed out with a screwdriver should the need arise rather than having to have it gun smithed like the 870.
I really liked my old Mossy. So much more classy than the Revo or Hatsan options and way cheaper than the Remmys.
Maybe I could get someone like Tenbury Guns to personally import/proof one for me. That maybe the only way to aquire one...:(

May have to be "someone like", as I heard Tenbury Guns were no longer in business.

That was the general consensus...but if you visit their website you'll see that they have decided to stay in the business. I've emailed them for some idea of cost. So I'll keep you posted.
