Evening all, one of the bosses at work is quite keen to get his hands on a genuine No. 8 rifle.
Does anyone know if they were ever released to market?
Shame of it is, all the No8's in Cadet service will be going out of service, and will they heck be released to civ market.

There are definitely some around. I owned one for a while until maybe 15 years ago - came with both a scope mount and iron match sights. I sold it to a fellow club member for £250. Last time I saw one for sale, the asking price was somewhat, like a lot, higher. The specialist miiltary arms dealers and historic .22 dealers would be where one would start a search I'd reckon. Dromia might have some insight into this.

Highwood classic arms have a couple in stock right now but, as you say, the price has gone up just a touch..!

You could try the Barbican Armoury in Durham.

I reckon a campaign to get the No.8s released to the civilian market might have a small chance of succeeding. New Zealand did exactly that when they retired all of theirs, most of the ones in circulation now are ex-NZ rifles.
Prices are ridiculously high for what they are, but then again nobody would buy a No.8 if it wasn't for sentimental reasons.

Just waiting to hear if my eldest daughter has been accepted to my old school....not that it had anything to do with my pushing her to apply but last time I looked (28 years ago mind

) there must have been at least a dozen No.8s in the school armoury - sort of hoping I could ask if one of them is up for 'relocation' to an oldboy clapclap .
