You'd think so....but you'd be wrong

Very big fan of Swedes. Finnish things are a recent trend.
Trade at shows in Sweden (when the flights allow travel)

BIG fan of the AG42. Played with one in New Zealand.
Septic in the video made a couple mistakes...
These were a one per squad weapon, not general issue.
Sweden kept the M96 until they went to the AK4 (G3)

AG42 = possibly the best semi auto of WW2

Nah! You're thinking of the German FG42. Now THAT was a serious piece of kit and it's probably as well for us it didn't hit the streets in far greater numbers than it did.

Nope

Far too light for the round used, IMO.
Not saying it'd not be in the top 3 though

Besides - the FG42 was a full auto beast

I like Swedes to...... Victoria Silvsted would do nicely! :good:

The FG42 was light because it was designed for Fallschirmjäger, rather than them jump with the MG42.It was also select-fire, switchable between semi and full auto. The Yanks were so impressed with it they used it as the basis for the M60.

I handled a S.1 FG42 in the mid-80's, though was a few quid shy of the £20,000 retail price
Familiar with the why's & wherefore's of the design

Pity the septics made a ballsdeep mess of the M60 until they got around to doing the E3 upgrades to it.
Thought it took more inspiration from the MG42 anyway??

AG42 is a better RIFLE and fires a better cartridge = hands down winner

I thought I'd mention it as some people reading this may not be familiar with the whys and wherefores of the design

Nah mate!

Selective fire (semi-auto and full auto). Way ahead of its time in both looks and concept. Anything but perfect of course but it certainly had the WOW factor.
