BR99 ISSUES

#1 Post by bofor »

Oh dear ..... got some minor(I hope) issues with my BR99. helpsign

Out of box fired everything, 10rd mags were tight so files some off all insides of magwell, mags now looser and rocks back and forwards a little. Also cut some coils (4 maybe) off the 10rd mag springs.

Went to range today and gun was throwing a sicky .

It wouldn`t feed, it wouldn't eject, it tried feeding when empty was not fully ejected and it looked like the angle of shell was wrong and catching as well.

I was using
Hull Superfast 27g, 7.5
Hull HV 29g, 6
Gamebore 28g, 7

Anyone know where I can buy new springs for 10rdmags as a starter ?

Anyone know what else can be wrong ?

Thanks

Everything fired. Filed mags, cut springs. Doesn't work.

New mags will cure it, I suspect...
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Guns dont kill people. Dads with pretty Daughters do...!

Two possibilities around the same idea.

When you removed the excess from the mag well did you take gun apart and clean it?

If you did, did you remember to lube the parts again?

I forgot to re lube and it didn't work properly until I realised.

No, I mean bofors: does his gun also play up with the 5 round mags (which I assume he hasn't altered).

Yes, it does the same with the 5rd mags which I didn`t alter at all.

Yes I took it apart to do the mag well and lightly oiled it again.

The springs in the mag were not totally removed when I cut some off, just pulled down with the plastic top still on, so they went back in the same way.

Where and how did you file the mag well.
If it's happening with the untouched mags then It's possible you've changed a little too much in the magwell.
If they rock fore and aft then it's possible they are moving under firing and therefore changing the feed angle.

On the plus side, a new lower isn't too expensive....

I filed all 4 sides of the magwell, as people indicated, (filing the front of the well also removed some of the plastic feed ramp obviously), so I could pull the mags out easier. They don`t drop out on their own.

Sounds like damage to the feed ramp is causing feed issues.

I don't know why it won't eject though. Can you tell us how it fails to eject exactly? Is the extractor at least on the rim of the cartridge?
