I want to lend a cheapy side by side of mine, to a friend at work. it is my shotgun on my SGC. He has a SGC also. the lend would be for longer than 72 hrs so paperwork will have to be filled out.

1. Do I need to write anything on my ticket?

2. Do I need to notify my police force that it has been lent?

3. Do I fill in his ticket in the same manner as I would if I was selling it, but just writing 'Lent' instead of 'Sold'? or would it be something else?

4. What would he need to say to his Police Force? send in the standard notification form, but say its on loan?

5. If he wants to buy it in the future, would i then fill out another line with the same info of the S/G but list it as sold? or amend the previous entry?

hopefully someone will give me some pointers

I've always been lead to believe you should never write on your own certificate so in your circumstances i'd fill in your friends cert, and get him to fill in mine. So your questions;

1/ No, get your friend to fill in your SGC, you fill in his
2/ Yes, standard transfer notice but with 'lent' instead of sold/acquired
3/ You fill in his, with 'lent'
4/ Yes
5/ I'm not sure whether it has to 'come back to you' from the loan, then sold (i.e. two entries), or if you can just refill in the details as a sale (1 entry)

I'd just ring the FEo and see what would keep their faces straight

1/ Don't write anything on your certificate, you haven't disposed of it and even then it wouldn't be written on your SGC.

5/ Leave it as it is. Now it is on both certificates you both are allowed possession (not title) and either of you will be allowed to take it at anytime, for as long as you want, without notifying the police. More than one of 'my' shotguns and one rifle are on more than one ticket and any of the certificate holders can take them out whenever we choose with no hastle at all. This is easier with shotguns as you don't need 'slots'.

Very interesting! Doing this would make things a whole lot easier! For example, i was offered a free internals upgrade of my VZ58 if i sent it to CCA then pick it up at The Phoenix, but as i wasn't going i couldn't do it, but friends were. Had i know about this i could have potentially got the rifle added to the ir certificate and they could've picked it up for me?

No, you are lending a s2 shotgun for less than 72 hours to another SGC holder. You do not have to enter anything on his certificate and neither of you have to inform the police. It is not a transfer per se.

if this is for my question and not at blackstuff, I am lending for more than 72 hrs. probably likely to be a month or so

In that case, you fill out his cert in the usual way with "lent" and both parties inform the police. When he returns the shotgun to you, he informs that it has been disposed of to you and you inform the police how have acquired. He then sends his SGC in to have it removed. You don't have to do anything with you certificate as the gun will already be entered on it and will remain so.
