Other than looking at it, taking it to the range and letting others look at it, listen to it going phutt, other than that, what are you going to do with it?
It appears a lot of money for a novelty item.
I have had a go with a well known central London gun makers 45 Lee Enfields, they are lovely to shoot but again fetch a crazy high price, over £1000. Again I wonder what you would actually do with one? They certainly are not competitive enough to use in competitions.

On a similar thread, I was pleased to see a SGC AR Straight pull advertised yesterday, I have been keeping an eye out for several weeks now and this is the first that has caught my attention. Despite the fact that it is SH the guy wants exactly the same for it as a new one? I checked the add for upgrades but none are listed and it appears bog standard - surely Bob does not have such a back log that people can demand more for a SH unit?

Ad finally earlier in the week someone from Scotland advertised a Rem 700 VS for around £400, a real bargain. I pinged him an email but got no reply, poor manners I feel, even if he had managed to sell it to someone else. It was a private seller and not a business so I guess you have to make allowances - but still a one liner would not have been difficult.

A new DE lisle carbine is £2106 from C&G.

Would the London dealer be Peter? I have seen his Enfield based kit seems to work very well, wish I could afford one.

I did not know they existed until I saw one at C&G a few years back.
I thought it was the most awesome looking thing and I just wanted one.

...however I still do not have one and I doubt I ever will. Use a slot on my FAC and money for what is essentially something that will mainly sit in the cabinet.

I do not know how accurate they are, if they were accurate then I guess shooting one at a 25m range would be the way to go.
Not sure if they could be used in competitions.

They look good, no doubt about it.

I don’t think the one on GT is a C&G DeLisle, I have a feeling either three of four people have built these in the past in the UK. I did spot an original up for sale in the UK a couple of weeks ago, price on application.

They are lovely looking things and I certainly have a spot for one in my virtual gun cabinet. Personally I would put a No32 Mk2 'scope on one and make it the weapon DeLisle never built. These DeLisles are replicas, you can buy replica brackets and now replica No32 Mk2's so why not put them all together? Now that would be fun to shoot

Had a bit fondle of one the other week up in Scotland at a place that makes repros on No 4 actions, very nice work indeed.

Have shot originals and replicas in the past and thoroughly enjoyed it, 45 ACP is one of my all time favourite pistol cartridges and have been tempted to buy one a few times but the silenecer is superfluous to my needs and therefore so is the bulk so if and when I wante to get a a 45 ACP on an Enfield action then an Armalon would make more sense.

Now from a collecting point of view and original would be nice though.

I know it well, he does some very good work. I didn't know he had changed to the No4 for his DeLisles, it must depend on what donor rifles he can get.

He's currently working on putting on a 22lr barrel on butchered SMLE (or Lee Metford) shotgun for me. Once it's finished it'll be a bit of a mongrel, but it'll be fun to shoot and that's all thats counts. :lol:

I used to deal with them a lot in the pistol days when they were at Shandwick and sort of lost touch over the years so I made a point this time of calling in. They are going to rebarrel some SMLEs for me.

He seems to have a bit of a reputation as talented engineer from all accounts.
