Has anyone done a trigger job on one of the H&K 416 rimfires?

A friend has one with a truly horrendous trigger pull and there doesn't seem to be any adjustment built in. The pull weight must be over 10lbs and you can feel the trigger flexing before it releases.

I've worked on several 10-22 triggers successfully, mainly by just polishing the sears and mating surfaces and am quite happy doing this, but wondered whether anyone can share any experience of the H&K416 trigger.

Thanks
Triffid

I am looking into this at the moment for mine, its not as bad as your friends but is heavy. HK parts.net do a spring kit and I am going to see if they will ship to UK.
they have a good video of how to strip the trigger down and change the springs as well it may be your friend has something in the mech so a strip and clean may help.

Yes, I did exactly this on my 416. You have to be extremely careful though as you can make it Sec 5 by turning it full auto if not careful.

Basically I followed a video from youtube of a guy stripping down the trigger mechanism and then stroned and polished the surfaces that make contact. This improved it tenfold. Took about 4 hours to completely strip down, stone and put back together, but I'm no gunsmith.

Definitely worth doing. There were no spring kits available when I did it :( I'm sure I lightened it a fair bit, it's still heavy but it breaks a lot smoother and consistently than it did. Don't have a trigger pull gauge to test the weight though.

Well Hk parts will only ship to USA. But they will ship to our USA offices who can then post to me wait out.
