Afternoon chaps,

A little market research exercise, considering the eager way the few Imbel .22 fals change hands for big money, who here would be interested in dedicated L1A1 .22lr builds?

Utilising original receivers, flash eliminators TMH's and incorporating a dedicated solid .22lr barrel of original L1 profile. The bolt group would be a newly manufactured (better quality) version of the old HK L12A1 bolt group.

Any thoughts or feedback guys? cheers

Concept, yes, I would bloody love one, question then comes to price of gun and mags.
It would have to be around the same, if not a little less than a SP L1A1
LOVE the concept though!

I'm sure I've seen one at our club, unless I imagined it wtf

IIRC it had cost silly money

Great idea, but it would depend on the price. :good:

As above - love one but the market is quite mature now and extremely price-sensitive. My Sig552 is functionally and accuracy-wise spot on; obviously an L1A1 is waaaaaay cooler but probably not three times cooler :)

Hi Alan,

I believe a certain "former RFD" :run: attempted rather unsuccessfully to build .22 L1A1's in small numbers, yet to hear of one that functions correctly.

I can't go into the specifics of this project just yet, that's not my call, but I will say the proposed bolt group builds on a proven design with a build quality that makes the original .22 service bolt group look rather tatty!

Huntervixen would this be like the HK bolt group and be removable? So one could own a straightpull SLR and merely swap some parts?

Thanks for the feedback so far guys, I feel there is a good market for such a cool rifle.

My mate has one of only (3 I think) folding stock Imbel Fals in the UK, its just an absolute blast to shoot, I have to say, I much preferred it to my old Spikes Tactical ... and I really don't say that lightly!

The only thing better would be a .22 L1A1 :flag13: hence this project...

This is an ongoing project, already out of the starting gate and I will post updates as it (hopefully) progresses toward production status.

Hi Dave,

The bolt group would be very similar indeed to the L12A1 HK bolt group, with a few modifications, so would be removable as per the original, fitting along with a L12A1 barrel liner might be a possibility.

Here lies a possible issue however, bore and chamber dimensions used on new production barrels aren't the same as the original L1A1 barrel, so the liner might not fit! aaarggh

HK manufactured two kits back in the day, one for the Inch pattern L1A1/C1A1 and one for the Fn Fal, different magazines and fractionally different liners.

Yes I'd be interested depending on price. It would need to be priced in the `fun gun` price category for me.
