FAC shotgun

How do I go about getting a FAC shotgun?
The range I am a member at doesn't shoot shotgun but I do go down to caldicott range and pay on the day as its cheaper for the amount of times I go down which does have a shotgun pit and room for practical shotgun
If I put in a variation for a fac shotgun with the reason practical shotgun and clays would this be ok?
Thanks Jack

Have you attended any PSG shoots - or even attended the basic beginners course for PSG?
Member of any of the UK based PSG outfits?
....otherwise, prepare to be told NO

Why would I need to attend PSG shoots when the the range I use in caldicott has a section for practical shotgun ?
Haven't heard of anyone I no needing to attend a course for PSG or needing to be a member of a PSG outfit

The "range" having a section I take it, means that YOU partake in organised PSG shoots as part of your club membership?
If so - then fine - if it's just that part of the facility is rated for slug & you want to have a plink....then good luck

I was granted a S1 shotgun without attending or being a member of anything PSG related, however my club does PSG and that was enough in my case.

...so you
ARE a
member of your
club? = club is a PSG club = valid reason for FAC shotgun
I'm VERY keen on PSG & TG type shooting.
Tried to do it years ago....I was not in a club that did PSG, nor did I have access to a PSG club for open shoots = knocked back

I hadn't attended any PSG shoots, nor attended the basic beginners course for PSG, nor a member of any UK based PSG outfits. The only saving grace was my club does it and it looks like a club he goes to does it, so what's the difference?

The current guidance says that good reason is being a member of the NRA, so if you're a member of an affiliated club then you have reason.
To strengthen your case get a safe shooter card issued for target/practical shotgun using a section 2.

Theres folks at my club with section 1 shotguns that use them for "target shotgun" shooting and were granted them with no problems.

Join the ukpsa - I think first registration is still £10. This will cover your good reason. Alternatively if you have land to shoot on you could ask for one for pest control, which is how I got mine
