Ah, the AN-94, another good gun before (or after) it's time depending on who you ask. I didn't realize that the second round left before the recoil was felt, no wonder it has a 2 round burst. What is reported accuracy like on the 2 round burst then?snayperskaya wrote:An AK looks better the rougher it gets!.The AK-12 will be issued to Spetnaz and some OMON units first, same as when the 74 came out, but a lot of Russian special forces troopers prefer the AK-103 and 104 in 7.62x39 as the old M43 round still hits harder in a CQB.
The AN-94 Abakan, designed by Gennadiy Nikonov, is also in limited use by Spetsnaz, OMON and FSB forces but despite being a very good design with negligible recoil and a system that allowed a second round to leave the barrel before the recoil of the first is felt it didn't reach widespread use due to it being very complex to mass produce.
Accuracy very good by all accounts and the two round feature was primarily to defeat body armour, with two rounds hitting pretty much the same spot in rapid succession.Sixshot6 wrote:Ah, the AN-94, another good gun before (or after) it's time depending on who you ask. If its the 7N6 round (the one that was banned from US import last year for all the pantomime reasons I can't be asked to discuss right now) then most definitely on the body armour bit. I'm just surprised we haven't seen any youtube vids of reproductions of the retrofitted 74's right now. I do like how the brake can also double up as moderator though, plus the oil can in the pistol grip is a great touch.snayperskaya wrote:Accuracy very good by all accounts and the two round feature was primarily to defeat body armour, with two rounds hitting pretty much the same spot in rapid succession.Sixshot6 wrote:Ah, the AN-94, another good gun before (or after) it's time depending on who you ask.
