I would like to get a .22LR rifle for Friday afternoon plinking sessions at the local range. As we mostly shoot 25m and it is usually for offhand practice I have a very open mind. It can be new, old pump, semi-auto or bolt however it must have a magazine. Recently I have been using a Remington 66 which is great fun however it is mostly here as a platform for testing suppressors so I would really prefer something for myself.
Thoughts anyone?

Though you can't go wrong with a Brno or CZ, how about something a little different, ooman ? Perhaps a nice old Browning / FN semi-auto ?

You'll never go wrong with a CZ452-455 bolt action or Ruger 10/22 semi. They can be picked up quite cheaply, and repairs/spares etc are generally not a problem to find. They are both easy enough to use offhand, too.
I have a CZ455, and it is surprisingly accurate even with CCI Standard. My semi is a Weatherby XXII, and although they are not that common over here, if you can find one they are great rifles and very accurate.

Vote for the s&w 15-22 here. Mine is great. Lots of parts availability.

Can't go wrong with a CZ. I got one from Adam the other week and it shoots lovely even out to 100 yards.

If you get one you'll never sell it.
