Hello,

Just stopping in to introduce myself. I'm Blair, shot since I was around 8 years old (Father taught me with an old Winchester .357) and was out of the sport for a good few years until this year.

Applying for my FAC in the coming weeks and hopefully get the go ahead so I can start shooting my own rifles instead of friends.

Thanks for accepting me,

Blair

Welcome to the forum Blair, have you decided what rifles you are going to shoot?

I have a general idea, I'm swithering at the moment between 6.5x47 Lapua or bog standard .223 as my F class target rifle, but I'll be going for a .357/.38spl gallery rifle as well as a few .22s for plinking away with as well as shooting some PP1/precision.

The 6,5x47 is a superb cartridge with factory ammunition readily available albeit quite pricey. The good news is you can always re-use the brass when you start reloading :)

Downside is the 6,5x47 would move you into the Open class (10kg) and you would struggle to compete against the heavier 7mm bullets on windy days, having said that the 6,5x47 is one of my favourites and I shoot it out to 1200 yards on reasonably still days.

At the moment I'm shooting my mates .223 Barnard, can't remember all the specifics but it's a beautiful rifle and action. The loads we make up, he has his, I have mine both on his ticket are fairly good, mine being the more beefier of the two, I'm hitting constant Vees out to 500 yards, so I'm wanting to go for a bit more of a challenge, heavier bullets etc. I want to be able to learn the reload completely on my own without him helping etc.
My club currently just has a free for all in the F class competitions, with all rifles competing against each other, so for now being in the open class with a 6.5x47 isn't an issue, but obviously if I was to go to bisley or the like I'm sure I would manage to compete.

Forgot to add, I'll be reloading from the get go. I have all the equipment already minus the dies, and consumables.

Hi Blair,
It took you long enough to join this forum, you missed a good day on Saturday I had the 17hmr with me even with the winds it did better than some of those with centrefires.
Are you going on Thursday?

Hi Sam! Sadly I'm offshore til the 1st of December. I'll be at blairadam in December for certain, no matter the weather, just hope it doesn't get called off.
I actually only just found this forum, naturally it was an easy decision to join ;)
