Being new to the forum I am sure that this may have been discussed.
.22 ammunition . What's the best ?? and what's the worst ??.
Is there anything I should avoid when thinking about buying ammunition .
Regards Chris

Welcome,
The simple answer is each gun will have it's own preferences. Buy a couple of packs of as many brands/types you can, shoot them and see what works
best in your gun.

Buy a box of every brand and try them out in your rifle. For a bolt action you're looking for grouping whereas with semi auto you're looking for ammo that cycles the action reliably as well as good grouping. You'll probably find same people arguing that you must clean your rifle bore when changing to a different manufacture of ammo because the bullet lube is different. I've not noticed any difference personally, but your mileage might vary.

Helps to know what you're going to be putting it through, like Welsh said, depends on what action.
But Welsh has summed it up pretty much spot on.

CCI Minimag if you are feeling flush or Blazer. RWS semi-auto is good stuff. Probably best to avoid Remington Golden bullet. Just my experience for what its worth.

Eley subsonic hollowpoint were pretty reliable in my Ruger 10/22.

Don't know much about your rifle but you'll quickly notice whether it likes HV rounds or not. I've found that CCI minimag are a good test but they are supersonic rounds. If it doesn't like them, try a subsonic round. It's trial and error really, there's no certainty of just saying 'CCI minimag is good' each rifle is different.

I just got some of the Eley Semi Auto Match ammo in and it shoots rather well in several semis I have here. The old Eley used to gum up the actions with lubricant but this has a new lubricant that so far seems to be pretty good.
I would also recommend you try CCI minimag as it has been consistently reliable feeding in our semis.
But don't buy loads of the same stuff until you find out if the rifle likes it. Buy small amounts of different makes and types at a time and when you get a good combination that is the time to buy loads.
