I have just acquired a rather used looking rifle chambered in the 6mm Flobert, has anyone experience of such things? It is on the raggedy edge of usability however me being me I had to give it a good home.
Now what to do with it, the obvious thing is buy a tin off ammunition and head down to the range however I am not really sure of what to expect performance wise. Is hitting tin cans at 15 yards acceptable or should I be expecting more?

Think air rifle performance.
After that it is down to barrel, bullet, sights and your ability.

I've used them and think I still have a couple - they shoot a 6mm ball, weighing I think 16 grains, at about 900 ftps.
So a little more powerful than a 12ftlb .22 air-rifle but well below a .22 short. They are just powered by the primer, no powder. Fiddly to load in a bolt action, almost silent with a mod fitted and ok for tin can at 15 -20 yards.
Not cheap and not easy to find I wouldn't think. None the less, good fun and well worth having a play with.

Apparently they are classed as unlicensed ammunition on the continent.

Well, I've never come across 4mm Flobert - much too dangerous for us UK folk. :)

This one is a hammer gun and I can see I need to track down a box of ammunition for it
