Hi can yous recommended somewhere to buy a quality made practical shotgun gun belt to hold 12g cartridges.thanks

If it's the type with the single quick release clips I make them in nylon or leather (used to supply the latter to Purdey)

I've also got some 15-rd belt pouches & can get the California Comp Works shell carriers in the 4 & 6 sizes...

The above type of belt is usually refrred to as a Prodec belt (owing to the Prodec clips they usually feature) and is a fine starter belt, or if you just prefer to load one cartridge at a time, several members of my local club use them and have done for many years.

A faster loading system is a duty type belt with 'caddies' on which stack either 3, 4 or 6 cartridges horizontally on top of each other and is usually done with the weak hand. A popular brand is Californian Competition Works (CCW) which are available from Brownells (and others).

An alternative to the caddies are a duoload belt which stacks two cartridges on top of each other in vertical alighnment. Its pretty fast but you are quite limited to the amount of ammo you can carry. I think the average is around 26rds.

The (current) fastest loading method is using a quadload belt which is stacks two cartridges vertically, in two pairs next to each other. There are numerous compaines now making these and they are available from AW Armoury, Cobra Retting Targets etc. While this is the fastest loading method it takes a reasonable level of skill to become competent, and some shotguns are not suited to it (e.g. Mossbery 500 - as it doesn't have the required solid cartridge lifter/ramp).

Unless you're built like a rake, its a good idea to cable tie a length of pipe lagging onto the back of it as it provides clearance of any clothing, your gut and provides ridgidity to the belt (the one that comes with it is literally just a length of floppy nylon). It also allows you to more easily spin the belt on your waist to get the cartridges nearer your loading hand as you work your way around the belt.
